There are more than 2,000 empty homes in Preston despite almost 3,000 people waiting on housing waiting lists, new research has found.

According to charity Empty Homes, a total of 30,985 houses in Lancashire, including 2,399 in Preston, were vacant in December, last year.

It comes as figures from housing charity Shelter found there are currently 2,715 people waiting for a home in the city.
