Preston Homeless Forum has become aware of some services which have or will shortly stop operating. St. James Church has already ceased to be a venue for free meals, and in a few weeks time Fishergate Baptist Church will be closing for good.

As of now (Mid July 2010) There are drop ins and a free or cheap meal at the following centres and times:

Monday from 7.15pm  Level Ground at Fishergate Baptist Church (This will be closing permanently from the end of August 2010)

Tuesday  from 6pm  at St. Wilfrids Hall, Chapel Street (run by The Freedom Centre)

Wednesdays 1-4pm Main Junction at Fishergate Baptist Church -  for those  aged 16-25 (This will be closing permanently from the end of August 2010)

Friday   from 12 noon to 1.30pm at The Salvation Army, Harrington Street, (near University) 


Community Café @ The Foxton Centre, Avenham 

Tuesdays, Wednesday  and Thursdays 11am -3pm

Now also open  some Saturdays 11.30am-2;30pm

offering social activities, showers, clothes, sleeping bags (limited supply), intensive 1-1 support with qualified workers, befriending service. There is a small charge for food—£1 for hot meals 50p for sandwiches, tea & coffee free.


There are also teams of volunteers who go out on the street and make contact with people who are in need especially

Soup and Socks... with Brother Loarne and his team on Sunday nights around the Market

Street Pastors  on Friday nights in the Meadow Street / New Hall Lane Area
